David was born and raised in the Kansas City, Missouri area. He spent most of his younger days playing sports. While in high school he received varsity letters in baseball, basketball, soccer and track & field. David won over 40 medals in track & field and was awarded all-state and all-region honors in basketball before he graduated from high school in 2004.
During high school, and for one year following, David attended Maple Woods Community College where he received an Associates of Arts degree with honors. After graduating from Maple Woods, he attended Missouri Western State University in Saint Joseph, Missouri, as a President’s Scholar. In 2007, David graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminal Justice and Legal Studies. After graduating from Missouri Western, David was awarded the Advocacy Scholarship to attend Washburn University School of Law. While in Law School, David was elected to the Student Bar Association and the executive board of Phi Alpha Delta Legal Fraternity.
In February of 2008, David, being short on money and interested in the practical aspects of the legal field, started knocking on the doors of local law firms and asking for a job. Luckily, Tenopir & Huerter was one of the first doors David knocked on, and he was offered a job as a law clerk. David clerked with Tenopir & Huerter until he graduated in December of 2009, passed the bar examination and later accepted a job as an associate with the firm.
David’s practice areas include: criminal defense, family law, adoptions, guardianships & conservatorships, and protection from abuse.
